More than 37,500 runners will compete at the 2012 edition of the London Marathon, which will start at 9.45am (local time) on April 22th 2012. In the following links you can read the tracking of the 2012 London Marathon results.
This year in London the returning champions Emmanuel Mutai, who won last year in 2h04 40 seconds, has kept the London course record but he was beaten by Kenian Wilson Kipsang (the second fastest marathoner in the world).
In the second position there was the 3 times London champion Martin Lel, ahead of the Ethiopian Tsegaye Kebede in a sprint finish. Mutai arrived 7th today with a "deceiving time" of 2h08 01 seconds.
Also the world record holder Patrick Makau (made last year in Berlin in 2h03 and 38 seconds) dropped off before 11 miles. The double world champion Abel Kirui finished at the sixth position and the Ethiopian Feyisa Lilesa (third at the WC in Daegu) who passed at the half marathon in 1h02 and 12 seconds, did not survive to Kipsang's pace, arriving at the finish line on the 10th position.
On the women competion, Mary Keitany retained her Virgin London Marathon title as Kenyan women enjoyed three winning on the streets of the capital.
Keitany produced a storming finish to win in an unofficial time of two hours 18 minutes 36 seconds, a new personal best and more than a minute ahead of world champion Edna Kiplagat. World silver medallist Priscah Jeptoo was 24 seconds further behind in third.
The 2012 London Marathon Live on TV was available on BBC and other TVs worldwide.
